Tree Plantation Program Successfully Conducted in Geruwa, Bardiya by Rotary Club of Central Banke

The Rotary Club of Central Banke successfully organized a Tree Plantation Program in Geruwa, Bardiya under the "Rotary Tree Plantation Week 2026" campaign. The program was conducted in collaboration with the Bandaraiya Bagauhuwa Buffer Zone Community Forest User Group within the Bardiya National Park area at Geruwa–2, Tikuligadh, Bardiya. The event was held under the chief guestship of Mr. Kailash Tharu, Chairperson of the Community Forest User Group.

The program was attended by office bearers and members of the Rotary Club of Central Banke, distinguished guests representing Bardiya National Park, including Kalu Chand and Resham Shahi, community leaders (Badhghars) Chandralal Tharu, Hari Prasad Rijal, Karna Tharu, and Bhagwan Das Tharu, representatives of the Community Forest User Group, local residents, and representatives from various stakeholder organizations.

With the objective of environmental conservation, biodiversity enhancement, and climate change mitigation, a total of 2,735 saplings of different species were planted. The plantation campaign aligns with Rotary's long-term commitment to environmental sustainability and natural resource conservation.

Addressing the gathering, Rotarian Shyam Prasad Dhamala, Geruwa Area Project Coordinator of the Rotary Club of Central Banke, informed participants that the project would directly benefit approximately 395 households. He emphasized that environmental conservation is not merely a one-day campaign but a shared responsibility toward future generations, urging everyone to actively participate in protecting and nurturing the planted trees.

During the event, participants collectively pledged their commitment to expanding greenery by embracing the message:

"Plant a tree today, protect tomorrow's future."

Speaking on the occasion, Rotarian Ishwori Jung Malla, President of the Rotary Club of Central Banke, stated that the club will continue organizing tree plantation drives, environmental conservation initiatives, and public awareness programs in schools, community forests, and public places in the coming days, contributing to sustainable development and a greener future.
