Project Description
Rotary Club of Patan, together with nine other Rotary Clubs of Rotary International District 3292, jointly organized the Rotary Joint Tree Plantation Programme 2026 on 1 August 2026 at the Machchhindranath Sub-Division Forest Office, Hattiban, Lalitpur.
The programme was implemented in collaboration with the Machchhindranath Sub-Division Forest Office, Lalitpur Metropolitan City Ward No. 23, the concerned forest authorities and the local forest management committee. The project aimed to promote environmental conservation, restore green cover and support biodiversity through the plantation of native species.
A total of 2,000 native saplings were planted using the Miyawaki Method, which involves dense plantation of locally suitable species to support the development of a self-sustaining green area. The total combined budget of the joint project was NPR 250,000, of which Rotary Club of Patan contributed NPR 25,000.
The programme was graced by District Governor Rtn. Vishnu Bahadur Karkee as Chief Guest. More than 100 participants, including Rotarians, Rotaractors, Interactors, Inner Wheel members, spouses, government and forest officials, local stakeholders and volunteers, participated in the programme.
Rotary Club of Patan was represented by 14 participants, comprising 12 Rotarians, one spouse and President Deepa Lamichhane of the Rotaract Club of Patan. The club’s representatives actively participated in the plantation work and related on-site activities.
The programme demonstrated the value of collaboration among Rotary Clubs, government agencies, local institutions and volunteers in addressing environmental challenges. Continued protection, maintenance and periodic monitoring of the planted saplings will be important to assess their survival and ensure the project’s long-term environmental impact
